SRCMozillians

SRCMozillians is the name of a Mozilla club in the temple city Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu.

This club was started in a well reputed university – SASTRA University-SRC, which is named after a great mathematician “Srinivasa Ramanujan” also called as Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre.

All the students in the university had a zeal to become an “FSA” when they heard the announcements in their classes. There were more than 450+ registrations to attend the club inauguration followed by the workshop being conducted after the first session. So,there by we sorted out the list and made the computer science students attend the inauguration and thought others could learn in the up coming days, where all the “Areas Of Contributions” were explained; Later we allowed the second and third year B.Tech-CSE students to attend the workshop where this was the first FSA program to be conducted in the University. So,I made them to register as an “FSA” as they were already familiar with the contrubition areas and I managed up teaching all the students about the Webmaker tools and FirefoxOS from 11.30AM to 5.00PM where the students were so dedicated that many of them did not even have their Tea- break.

The workshop was filled with 100+ participants and all the four webmaker tools was tought and all the participants loved the “Appmaker Tool” in the second session.Later after the lunch break everyone was immersed developing web pages as everyone was familiar with “HTML & CSS” .

Later i explained them about FirefoxOS and made them convert the web application created by them into a “FirefoxOS Application” using the WebIDE in the browser,many of them loved seeing their Web Applications running in the simulator.

It was already 4.ooPM and we gave a chance for the participants to showcase themselves for what they have learnt from the morning and conducted an “Activity round” were the students were busy for 45 minutes working out with makes, remixing and developing apps.

After that some of my staff members came as judges and selected the best three makes and they were given with a compliment.

In the activity round i was happy seeing the pic below where a girl developed a app as a news letter of the happenings of the day in the workshop.
